Lingfield Placepot: Friday February 1

Today's Placepot is at Lingfield.

Lingfield is the venue for today's crack at the Placepot, which Timeform's Matt Gardner reckons is attainable with just two lines...

12:30 - A further non-runner would complicate matters somewhat, leaving us in requirement of the winner, but as things stand we can bank upon The Black Jacobin with two places on offer. The three-year-old boasts some decent form from earlier in his career, finishing third to Reckless Abandon on debut at Doncaster, and got off the mark at the thirteenth time of asking in a handicap here last week. This looks as good an opportunity as any for him to follow that up.

13:00 - We're going to go wild here and stick in two, the only leg in which we will not select a banker. This is mainly due to none of the runners making any real appeal, as evidenced by the fact that Galiotto seems most likely to win despite him being 5 lb higher than his last winning mark. Perfect Shot has long been one to treat with caution but hasn't done a great deal wrong on his last two starts and is at least feasibly treated, so he could go close.

13:30 - Devout is pretty consistent and seems likely to give another good account of herself whilst Princess Cammie is also interesting with a return to this trip looking to be in her favour, but the one to focus on is Gebayl as it is possible to take positives from each of her three starts in maidens. The return to sprinting ought to suit ideally and with trainer James Tate in excellent form it would come as a surprise were she not to be involved.

14:00 - My Scat Daddy looks set to go well dropping in trip but the one we want on side as a banker is Artful Lady, who arrives here at the top of her game following two decent efforts, finishing second at Kempton before being left poorly placed at Wolverhampton last time, and she could easily gain a second career win here.

14:35 - In similar style to the second leg very few make any real appeal here, but Sextons House showed signs of arresting his slide when finishing fourth at Kempton a fortnight ago, having a hopeless task from the position he found himself in, and the drop to six furlongs ought not to be a problem.

15:10 - "Jumpers bumpers" monster Cousin Khee makes his Flat debut here and he is most difficult to get away from in the final leg. Good Evans is definitely of interest but it seems unlikely that Cousin Khee will fail to hit the places with two currently on offer, so there is little point in taking him on.

13:00 - 2, 5
