Bandstand is an interesting runner in the 15:40 at Southwell having been solidly backed in from 12.5n/a to a current 5.24/1. Not sighted in his last two runs this is a gelding that definitely has the ability to take a race such as this one, if back on form. In three runs at the track he's won once and finished second twice, so the surface won't be an excuse. A lifetime record of three wins and four second places from 19 runs is a decent return, and as he is one of the best-backed runners of the day, win number four could well be on the cards.

If you ignore Current Exchange's last run when pulling up (after a mistake) in a point to point, his overall form puts him right in the picture for a race of this nature. His drift in the market 2.915/8 from 2.265/4, however, suggests that he might have his work cut out to beat his one serious rival in Market Rasen's 16:00. He can run a bit too freely and does make the odd mistake; both minus points that backers of French Canadian seem to have taken into consideration. If this one's good point to point form can translate onto the racecourse, then a lay on the exchange... of Current Exchange, could deliver a result.

In the 16:10 at Southwell one big-priced runner has taken our eye in the market and could be worth a speculative back. The early nibbles (at 40's and bigger) on Aphrodite Spirit have turned into some serious chomping as the morning has progressed, and there is at least one good reason for taking notice.
