Mick Easterby's Cheers For Thea can get back on the scoreboard
The all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton is the source of today's SmartPlays...
Aragorn Rouge (13:55) has been resurgent since joining this yard a couple of months ago, winning here over 8.6 furlongs last month and producing several fair efforts from less-than-favourable draws either side of that. His latest effort over C&D, when chasing a very strong pace, is best excused and he remains fairly treated on the form he showed last winter at Dundalk. Unlikely to be found wanting for assistance in the saddle, he looks the likeliest winner and can form the first part of a double for his up-and-coming handler.
Cheers For Thea (14:25) is on a lengthy losing run going back to August 2010, but the three-time course winner's mark has fallen sharply as a result and she has offered enough encouragement for Mick Easterby on her last three appearances to suggest she may break that drought today in an event where most of her rivals have questions to answer.
Chookie Hamilton (15:55) has a similar profile to the afore-mentioned in that he's bounced back to form recently under the care of Keith Dalgleish, following up a couple of course wins here with a pair of runner-up efforts (on both occasions going down by just a neck). Although creeping up the weights, the eight-year-old is still below the mark from which he was successful during his previous stint with this yard and he'll continue to prove a tough nut to crack.
