Thursday's Race of The Day comes from Wetherby
Timeform have a look at the Castleford Chase at Wetherby on Thursday...
Lease Lend is a C&D winner who has returned as good as ever after 18 months off, placed all 3 starts at this venue. Still prone to the odd mistake, but surprising if he wasn't on the premises again.
Charingworth landed this corresponding event 12 months ago and would have added to tally but for an unseat at Ayr in February. Below best both starts this season, though, and handicapper looks in charge for now.
Drumshambo is a fairly useful hurdler who has shown progressive form over fences this term, winning 2m handicaps at Ludlow (twice) and Hereford, with career-best effort at first-named venue last week. Respected.
Character Actor Better over fences than hurdles, winning 2m maiden at Tramore last term and matched that form when filling runner-up spot at Gowran (2m) last time. Engaged 3:25 Wincanton Wednesday.
Dontpaytheferryman Visored and back on track over hurdles earlier this year when winning trio of 2m Musselburgh handicaps, so respected here off lower chase mark with headgear re-fitted (absent both runs this term).
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Drumshambo
2. Lease Lend
3. Dontpaytheferryman
Timeform view: Drumshambo is thriving on racing at present and can overcome a 7 lb penalty for his Ludlow success last week to land his fourth victory this term. Lease Lend may be the one for the forecast, though Dontpaytheferryman is interesting off this mark with headgear re-fitted for his return to chasing.
