Timeform Radio Tips: Canadian Run to prove a winter warmer

One of David's bets comes from Kempton

David Cleary picks out his best bets on today's weather-hit racing programme.

The cold weather has taken its toll, with both of this afternoon's jumps meetings, at Hexham and Leicester, abandoned due to frost, leaving all-weather cards at Kempton and Lingfield to hold the fort.

The feature event at Lingfield is the seven-furlong handicap at 14:30. Jack Who's He would have gone close here earlier in the week had he not run wide off the bend into the straight, so is likely to run well again. However, he's generally not the easiest to win with and it may pay to side with Roy The Boy, in a race where there are questions to answer about quite a few of the others. Roy The Boy has build a solid run of form since winning at Wolverhampton on his polytrack debut and was better than ever when second in a stronger race than this afternoon's at Kempton last week. He's a couple of pounds higher in the weights here but that shouldn't be enough to stop him.

Round the M25 at Kempton, the nursery at 16:15 has a competitive look to it. Emulating is sure to be popular, doing good work late on at Lingfield last time after being forced wide into the straight. However, he's stoutly bred and may not come fully into his own until he goes up further in trip. Mick Duggan is another contender, sure to be suited by the step up to a mile after doing his best work late on over seven furlongs here last time. However, Canadian Run may be the bet in the race. He showed improved form when winning over course and distance last week, his first start since being gelded. Canadian Run impressed with the way he travelled that day and found plenty when shaken up; he surely has more to offer.

Recommended Bets:

Back Roy The Boy in the 14:30 at Lingfield
Back Canadian Run in the 16:15 at Kempton
