Gordon Elliott: The thoughts on my two Wexford runners today

Gordon has two runners at Wexford this afternoon

Both Shattered Dream and Knocklayde Euro were disappointing last time out so big improvement is needed if they are to finish in the money at Wexford on Wednesday...

12:15 Wexford - Shattered Dream

He came fourth (of 11 runners) in his first race under rules at Naas back in October but he failed to come on for that and was pulled up last time in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. I'm not quite sure what was wrong with him; he just couldn't get into it and it was disappointing for all involved. He seems to be working well at home so I hope he gets back on track soon but obviously, he'll have to improve a good deal on his latest run to find himself in contention here.

13:15 Wexford - Knocklayde Euro

He had his first race for our yard in a handicap hurdle at Navan recently but he finished well down the field and was off the bridle early on. He had been racing over fences before he came to our stables and I want to try a couple of hurdle races for now - although we will probably mix it up again in the future. He'll be a little bit fitter this time so I hope he runs a better race but to be honest, he's not setting the world alight at home at the moment so it looks like we've a bit of work to do.
