All FTM's picks run at Newbury today
Today's movers all come from the meeting at Newbury.
Our negative mover starts the day at Newbury in the 13:00, where Glorious Twelfth has gradually gone from 2.1411/10 out to 2.47/5. This unexposed mare is having her fifth run and her first start over hurdles, after showing progressive form in four bumpers, culminating in a win at Cheltenham last April. Although this form does look encouraging, there are a couple of other nice sorts in the race, namely Caroles Destiny, who won a race over this trip and going earlier in the month, and may just have the experience edge. Today's lack of market confidence suggests Nicky Henderson's charge may not quite be ready after her summer break.
The first positive of the day can be found in the 13:30 Conditional Jockey's Handicap Chase. Double Dash has received strong support on his return from 650 days off, now trading at 6.411/2 in from 16.5n/a. This eight-year-old gelding had won two races before his absence and recorded two seconds over chases. George Baker's runner is returning on a mark 1lb lower than his previous hurdle win, which suggests he could be well handicapped if still retaining ability, and with the yard in form, Double Dash could be pleasing his supporters today.
There's been steady support for Bakbenscher, in to 7.87/1 from a high of 11.010/1, in the 14:40 Handicap Hurdle. Alan King's runner is having his second start after returning from a long absence, and is sticking with hurdles, where he is rated 11lb lower than over fences. This nine-year-old gelding showed he still has ability finishing a respectable fifth to Lamb Or Cod last month in a Grade 3 at Chepstow. With today's drop to a Class 3, at a course that he has won at, on ground he loves, Bakbenscher has a great chance of notching up another success today.
