Jose Mourinho is going to be a very busy man this summer according to today's newspapers
The new Spurs manager is being (unsurprisingly) linked with a raid on his old club and the best young defender in the world might be on his way to Stamford Bridge. Welcome to today's newspaper transfer rumour round-up.
The Guardian suggests that newly appointed Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is preparing to raid his old club, Southampton, for captain Adam Lallana.
The midfielder, currently away on international duty, has been attracting interest from Liverpool, who are reported to have offered the south coast club 20million for the midfielder. Saints, however, are holding out for 25million.
Lallana wants Champions League football but may be willing to waiver that demand for a reunion with Pochettino, who has been the catalyst in Lallana's ascent from respected player to fully-blown England international.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are to make a move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane as they look to replace the PSG bound David Luiz, according to the Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho was instrumental in bringing Varane into the Real Madrid first team last season and the 21-year-old defender may want to be reunited with his former boss after struggling for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
The Blues do have money to spend. They received around 40million for Luiz, making him the most expensive defender in the world, and they can use a significant portion of that to entice Real into selling their highly coveted defender.
In other Chelsea news, Eden Hazard has once again played down talk of him moving to PSG, says the London Evening Standard.
The Daily Express report that Harry Redknapp has admitted defeat in his attempts to persuade highly rated Loic Remy to stay with newly promoted QPR, amid interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool. The manager also concedes that the chances of him signing Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand are "very slim".
The Telegraph are reporting that Liverpool have told Stoke that they must stump up 7million if they are to make loan signing Oussama Assaidi's move permanent.
The Reds bought the winger back in 2012 for just 3.5million and he has since gone on to make four league appearances for the club.
English champions Manchester City are expected to see a flurry of bids for left-back Aleksandar Kolarov, reports the Daily Mirror.
The defender, who has been with the club since 2010, is attracting interest from big spenders Monaco, while AC Milan, Juventus and Roma are also thought to be keen.
The Citizens splashed out 19million to sign the Serbian from Lazio and the club would be looking for the same amount if they were to sell him.
