It's Samba time
Following his winner in Sweden yesterday, Paul Robinson turns his attentions to Brazil tonight as he feels that America RN can take at least a point from their trip to Joinville.
Joinville are up in second place in Serie B having picked up 14 points from their opening seven fixtures. They have gone three without a win though - two draws and a defeat - and they've also been knocked out of the Copa do Brasil at the hands of minnows, Novo Hamburgo.
Hemerson Maria's side had earned four straight victories at the beginning of the campaign but it is worth noting that one of those was awarded to them after their opponents, Portuguesa, left the pitch in protest to their points deduction and subsequent relegation. The recent stutter in the league is also an indication that their current position in the table is somewhat of a false one.
America RN are currently in sixth place with 10 points and with the top four going up, last year's 13th placed finishers will be optimistic about launching a push for promotion. They may have already lost three times this term, but two of those were at home and they won 3-1 at Vila Nova last time out.
Leandro Sena's men came from 1-0 down to win that match and they did similar in their previous away game - trailing 1-0 at Portuguesa before winning 2-1 with a pair of injury time goals. That highlights their tenacity and belief even if they fall behind and that should stand them in good stead at Arena Joinville tonight.
I don't disagree that the hosts are the worthy favourites for this match but they certainly shouldn't be as short as they are in the betting. That's why, at around the 1.684/6 mark, I have to make Joinville my lay of the day.
