Racing takes place at Kempton on Tuesday.
Timeform's Matt Gardner takes to the all-weather at Kempton for Tuesday's Placepot...
14:00 - The opening leg is a fairly trappy event so, although he is most certainly a veteran nowadays, the first name onto our list is the consistent Lytham. The 12-year-old has been in excellent heart of late and there is no reason why he won't go well once more with useful apprentice Ryan Tate, who claims 5 lb, taking over in the saddle. Another one to have been in fair form recently is Chella Thriller who seems to have improved since being fitted with headgear. She could finish only fourth last time but arguable did too much too soon and it would come as no surprise were she to step up on that now.
14:30 - Although it is disconcerting to see Pearl Bridge fitted with blinkers so early in his career it is well worth bearing in mind the promise of his debut at Sandown in September, not enjoying the clearest of runs but finishing strongly to take third. A half-brother to the smart Pearl Secret, Pearl Bridge could take this on his way to bigger and better things.
15:00 - The two Richard Hannon runners, Bursledon and Gold Medal, clearly have to be respected but I can't quite make my mind up about them so instead we're going to side with Marco Botti's Speed Boogie, who sets the standard based on his two efforts to date and remains open to further improvement.
15:30 - None of these make any great appeal but, with two places to aim at, we can afford to take a chance on the Robert Mills-trained Close Together; the three-year-old has progressed steadily with each and every outing and should have the pace to cope with this slight drop in trip.
16:00 - Although this race is ever so slightly more competitive we are quite happy to stick in another banker, namely Icebuster. The five-year-old often shaped better than the bare result last term, is now being cut some slack by the handicapper and may benefit from Jamie Spencer taking over in the saddle.
16:30 - A tricky final race can hopefully be solved by selecting both Bloodsweatandtears and Unlimited. The first mentioned ran creditably last time and is on a tempting mark whilst Unlimited has been running consistently of late and should go close once more.
Selections:
14:00 - 1, 8
14:30 - 3
15:00 - 6
15:30 - 4
16:00 - 7
16:30 - 10, 11
