We are opposing Jessica Harrington's Jezki - are you?
Today`s Follow The Money movers run at Wolverhampton, Newton Abbot and Punchestown
Our first bet runs in the 14:20 at Wolverhampton where Strategic Strike has been backed from a high of 3.613/5 into 2.8815/8. The Paul Cole-gelding was beaten a length-and-a-half on his debut in a 1m2f Kempton maiden this month and then followed that up with a third over 1m4f at Lingfield. If he can reproduce any of that form then he can take what is a very weak looking race. The step back in trip looks a good decision from the evidence in his debut race and we think a chance has to be taken on the selection at 2.8815/8 to get his first win on the board.
Our next back bet arrives in the 15:30 at Newton Abbot in the shape of Pacha Doudairies, who has been backed from a high of 9.417/2 in to 6.05/1. Michael Blake' 10-year-old arrives here 5lbs lower than when winning over course and distance last summer. The booking of Brendan Powell Junior is interesting with a handy 3lbs being taken off his back, while blinkers have been removed after some disappointing performances. He made all with his most recent win, so if Powell Jnr can get him to the front quickly, steady him into a nice rhythm, then he may be difficult for the others to peg back.
We go to the first day of the big meeting at Punchestown for our lay and it's Jezki, a drifter from 2.546/4 to 3.02/1, who we are opposing. The Jessica Harrington-trained 5yo is up against familiar opposition in the shape of Supreme Novice Hurdle winner Champagne Fever and, though Jezki travelled very well at Cheltenham, a bad jump at the second last followed by a laboured turn of foot up the hill did for him.
As well as Champagne Fever he also faces he Mouse Morris-trained Rule The World, and both appeal on current prices. Even though Champagne Fever won the Cheltenham bumper last season, you could argue that his best performance of the season was at this very meeting. Beating the highly regarded Melodic Rendevous by 7.5 lengths. Course form could make all the difference today, with this being Jezki's first trip to Punchestown and his two main rivals boasting winning form here, then a lay @ 3.02/1 is very appealing.
