IPL Betting: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Delhi Daredevils

Chris Gayle will be looking to reclaim the Orange Cap when Bangalore meet Delhi on Tuesday

Delhi are bottom of the IPL table with no wins from four and Matt Harris expects Bangalore to inflict more misery on Mahela Jayawardene's side when the teams meet in Tuesday's late game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

After losing out to the Super Kings by virtue of a weaker net run rate in 2012, Chennai inflicted more misery on RCB by inflicting a defeat in the most dramatic of fashions on Saturday. The Royal Challengers need to recover quickly but the side seems more resilient this year and for once, they are not relying solely on runs supplied from Chris Gayle.

When the Jamaican left hander has failed, Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers have taken responsibility and Gayle and Kohli have been trading the orange cap between them at times during this tournament. There should be enough strength in the batting to overcome a poor Delhi side but the key could lie in the bowling attack. Can they recover from that agonising defeat to Chennai when the game would have been won had RP Singh not overstepped on the final scheduled ball of the match?

Delhi Daredevils

David Warner has also been an impressive run scorer in this tournament but unlike RCB, when the Daredevils' top batsman fails there has been nobody to back him up. When the Australian holed out for a duck in the last game against the Sunrisers, Delhi's challenge was effectively over even though their opponents made harder work of the win than they should have done.

With Kevin Pietersen and Jesse Ryder ruled out before the tournament began, there is little Delhi can do in regards to changing personnel but we could see Ben Rohrer come in to the middle order. Against the Sunrisers Johan Botha, a capable lower order hitter, was promoted up the order to number five and that's a measure of the Daredevils' issues at the start of this competition.

Venue and Conditions

The average first innings score of the two games played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 6 has been 159 and similar totals were recorded in 2012's early matches before targets began to approach the 200 mark.
With such a strong batting line up in the home camp, RCB should be looking to post 170 at least if they take first knock and that's about par for this ground. A little cloud cover is forecast but temperatures are still expected to peak in the mid-thirties centigrade.

Match Odds

Bangalore's strong early form has made them clear favourites at 1.684/6 to take the two points here while Delhi are out at a tempting 2.47/5. The Daredevils have to win sometime but as attractive as their odds may be, they look too weak and demoralised to take any points from any of the top sides right now.

Bangalore Top Batsman

No surprises to see Chris Gayle as 2.767/4 favourite but he's being matched for runs by Virat Kohli who is available at 3.7511/4. However, AB De Villiers has quickly found his form after missing the start of the tournament and the South African is the better pick here at 4.3100/30.

Delhi Top Batsman

David Warner shows occasional lapses of judgement and by holing out to Dale Steyn in the first over of the match last time out, the Australian effectively ended his side's chances of a win. He is carrying virtually all the run scoring responsibility for his side right now but expect him to show more application here and take this market at 3.505/2.

Recommended Bet
Back David Warner to top score for Delhi at 3.505/2
