Two of today's SmartPlays run at Kempton Park.
Timeform put forward a trio of selections on the all-weather for Monday's action...
Racing at Kempton gets underway at 14:20, and that is when our first SmartPlay takes to the track. The Wonga Coup, trained by Pat Phelan, has been in top form of late, getting back near his best with wins at Bath and Lingfield on the turf in the latter half of this year before following up with decent efforts in defeat at both Lingfield and Wolverhampton on the sand. The five-year-old found only the thriving and well-treated Boonga Roogeta too strong on his most recent start last month and he looks sure to give another good account in what is an admittedly competitive affair.
The 14:30 at Wolverhampton is an intriguing contest, pitching the consistent pair of Griffin Point and Angelo Poliziano against the fairly unexposed Mick Easterby-trained Under Par, but it could be worth taking a chance on Volcanic Dust, who has plummeted in the weights on her return to handicaps. The Milton Bradley-trained four-year-old has been operating below her best in 2012, not managing to get her nose in front, but there were definite signs on her most recent start, in a seller over C&D last month, that she was not a lost cause as she finished fourth, slowly away and forced to race wide before making late headway. If returning to anything like her best her current BHA mark of 60 vastly underplay her ability, as she was competing off a mark some 22 lb higher at this time last year, and she is taken to land the spoils at an attractive price of 13.5n/a.
Another currently trading at a tempting price is Dorothy's Dancing, in the 17:50 at Kempton, with it currently being possible to back the four-year-old at 14.5n/a. The Gary Moore-trained filly won three all-weather sprint handicaps, including one over C&D, in quick succession earlier in the year and the suspicion is that she has been working her way back to full fitness on her last two starts following a summer break. Some of her best form has come at this venue, she has been given a chance by the handicapper, racing off the same mark as for her most recent win, and there is every chance that she can take advantage today.
