A seven-race card at Clonmel gets underway at 12:45
Today's three SmartPlays come from Clonmel.....
Willie Mullins has been firing in the winners left, right and centre of late and he can get his supporters off to a good start at Clonmel this afternoon with Fatcatinthehat. He was the best of these on the level, winning a mile and a half maiden at Galway in August, and is sure to have been well schooled prior to his hurdling debut. He looks worth supporting at short odds.
The handicap hurdle at 13:45 is unlikely to take much winning and the one that makes most appeal is Yeoman who is very well treated on his chase form. He won a handicap chase at Galway in October off an ITC mark of 90 but gets in here off just 81, which is actually a pound lower than his last winning mark over hurdles. Yeoman handles testing conditions really well and the promising Harley Dunne takes the ride.
Troll d'Oudairies can gain compensation for a slightly unlucky defeat at Cork last time. Martin Brassil's charge was upsides Snooze and had yet to be asked for maximum effort when falling three out that day, and the winner has since done his bit for the form. Provided his confidence has been dented, Troll d'Oudairies should take all the beating here in a race lacking strength in depth.
