Follow The Money: Thursday at Taunton

Have FTM found winners at Taunton?

Today's Follow The Money movers all run at Taunton.

Starting in the 12:50 Handicap Hurdle over 2m 3f, Legion D'Honneur has been backed in to 8.808/1 from 15.014/1. The seven-year-old gelding has been off the racecourse for 359 days and is 8lb lower today. He was in front when riding at Chepstow when falling in the second to last fence in October 2001, and on that basis would have a good chance today. Legion D'Honneur has won a class four race and the drop back from 3m 1 f in its last race to nearly two-and-a-half miles looks to be a trip the horse favours. However, it is not certain how the long lay off will affect the horse and the forecast soft ground is a concern as his last run on soft ground resulted in a fifth place finish at Musselburgh in April 2008.

In the 15:20 2m Handicap, Chase Ciceron has drifted out to 3.65n/a from 2.95n/a. The six-year-old gelding finished second last time out at Leicester, in a class 3 Novices chase and has not won in any of its previous six races. However, he has won both his last two races at Taunton over 2m 1f with cut on the ground, and if he is on a going day, he would have a good chance of victory today.

In the 15:50 2m1f National Hunt Flat race, Doctor Harper has been very heavily supported in to 2.3411/8 from 7.06/1. No horse has had a previous run so it is a very difficult race to price up. The sire of Doctor Harper is Presenting who sired Denman so it superbly bred for the trip and the money suggests a very good run is expected today.
