Will we start with a winner at Lingfield?
Today's Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Catterick, Folkestone and Lingfield.
We start at Lingfield where, in the Class 6 Handicap at 13:20, Lucky Mark has been backed from 5.79/2 in to 4.216/5 to follow up his recent course and distance success. The key here seems to have been the step up to 7f given that the gelding's only previous attempt at the distance prior to his victory last time was a very decent second at Wolverhampton in October. Raised just 3lb for his win, Lucky Mark is definitely one to keep on our side.
Our next selection comes in the 14:10 at Catterick in which Carmela Maria has been supported from a double figure price in early exchanges in to 5.69/2. This morning's plunge is clearly based on that old adage "horses for courses" given that the mare's only two previous visits to the winner's enclosure were here. Those previous wins came off marks of 84 and 90 respectively (85 today) so she is well in and with today's trip and going in her favour. At the price we just have to put this one up.
Perhaps one shouldn't look for a lay in what is the last ever race at Folkestone (15:30) but sentiment has little place when it comes to finding winners or losers and Landenstown Star's drift in the 15:30 from 3.02/1 to 4.03/1 is not one we can readily ignore. This is not the greatest race ever to be run on the only course in Kent and the inescapable truth is that this maiden has now had 16 attempts to get his head in front. Despite being runner-up in his last two runs we're not convinced that he has the right profile to make it 17th time lucky.
