Against All Odds: Cambuur to flop on the road again

The Cambuur players really don't cope well with defeats

Emmen host Cambuur in the Dutch Jupiler League this evening and while the Betfair market doesn't expect them to take anything from the game, the in-form Paul Robinson disagrees.

After my promise of finishing the year on a high, it's been six winners from seven and the Christmas fund is swelling by the day.

Emmen have slipped to 17th after falling to six defeats in their last eight matches but there are reasons to believe they can pick up a result here. Their form at home isn't actually too bad this term; played seven, won one, drawn four and lost two. One of those losses was against the high flying, MVV, and the other was to De Graafschap who plied their trade in the league above last year.

Joop Gall will be telling his players to repeat their performances from the games with Veendam and Helmond Sport, where they defeated the former and drew with the latter after conceding an injury time penalty.

A couple of weeks ago I tipped up a lay of Cambuur versus FC Oss, and despite the fact it didn't land on that occasion, I was far from convinced by Cambuur's performance. Oss dominated that match for large periods and they were unfortunate to concede a hugely deflected goal and then a third in injury time as they chased the game.

That victory for Alfons Arts' side was their first on the road since the middle of August having picked up just two points from the subsequent five matches. They were poor away from home the season before as well and they have managed just one clean sheet this calendar year.

It may be a top versus bottom clash, but I can't have Cambuur at such long odds-on away from home, so that's why at around the 1.728/11 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
