Goals, Goals, Goals tonight
The already relegated Atletico GO take on Bahia in the final game of the Brazilian season and with the pressure off, Paul Robinson thinks the goals could flow.
Atletico GO have had a terrible season and they will be plying their trade in Serie B next year. They have managed just 30 points and are only off the bottom of the table on goal difference. Frustratingly for coach, Arthur Neto, since relegation was confirmed, their form has picked up as they've won two of their last three and drawn the other one.
The problem for The Dragon has been at the back as they've shipped an alarming 66 goals, which is the second worst record in the division. They've not kept a clean sheet at Estdio Serra Dourada all year and four of their last five home and away have gone over 2.5 goals.
Bahia are down in 16th place just three points above the relegation zone, so while they're not officially safe yet, it would take a minor miracle for Sport Recife to turn around the goal difference. A decent run at the business end of the campaign has helped them to safety and it's just one defeat in the last six for them.
As far as the goals go, the stats aren't exactly in our favour, their matches have been averaging only 2.08 goals each time, however there are reasons to think that we could get a few goals tonight. Five of their last nine on the road have gone over 2.5 and they've scored in each of their last four.
Atletico GO are clearly playing with more freedom now their fate is sealed and they will want to give their supporters something to cheer about to end the season on a high. Bahia have also loosened up a touch lately and their goal average has improved in recent weeks. With that in mind, under 2.5 goals is too short at 1.9210/11 and I have to make it my lay of the day.
