Mikel Delzangles searches for further Guineas Glory
Mikel Delzangles is confident his exciting filly What A Name possesses all the necessary attributes to make her presence felt in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 5...
The French trainer knows what is required to win on the Rowley Mile, having saddled Makfi to secure a shock victory in the 2000 Guineas three years ago.
What A Name won twice as a juvenile and signed off the year with a fine second behind Richard Hannon's colt Olympic Glory in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc day at Longchamp. She made a winning return to action in the Prix Imprudence at Maisons-Laffitte at the start of April.
Delzangles said: "She is definitely (on target) and did very well on her comeback in the Prix Imprudence. She is on her way to Newmarket.
"She's stronger and is still as calm as she was, that is one of her good points, she has a very good character. She definitely will improve, she wasn't fully fit at all (in the Prix Imprudence)."
