Thousand Stars (grey) can go well in the Boyne Hurdle
Timeform look at this six-runner Grade 2, with a number having designs on one big Spring prize or another.
Thousand Stars is a high-class and versatile hurdler, winning Grade 1s from 2m to 25f. Creditable efforts behind Hurricane Fly last 2 starts, 5 lengths second in Irish Champion Hurdle on latest.
Whatuthink is an in-and-out sort who had run of the race when making all in the Lismullen here in November. Good efforts last 2 starts, 5 lengths third to Solwhit in Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas on latest.
Jadanli is a useful chaser who produced best effort for some time when landing Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran last time. However, he hasn't run over hurdles for over 3 years. Wears first-time blinkers.
On His Own quickly improved for this yard when winning Thyestes Chase at Gowran last term. Not seen since falling in the Grand National in April, though, and he reportedly has that race as his main aim this term.
Si C'Etait Vrai has been a lightly-raced hurdler, but produced a career-best effort when making all in 4-runner minor hurdle at Punchestown last time by 2 lengths from Shrapnel. This is much tougher, though.
Un Beau Matin is a French import who chased home Jezki in Grade 3 at Naas prior to landing a minor hurdle at Punchestown in November. Would have been involved in finish in Grade 2 but for falling 2 out last time.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Thousand Stars
2. Whatuthink
3. Un Beau Matin
Timeform view: Thousand Stars was right back to his best when chasing home Hurricane Fly in the Irish Champion Hurdle last time and he will take plenty of beating if reproducing that effort here. Whatuthink is not the most reliable sort, but he is capable on his day and rates the biggest danger, whilst Un Beau Matin may prove best of the rest.
