Timeform's SmartPlays team visit a trio of track for today's best bets...

We get underway in the 14:10 at Wetherby on Tuesday, with it hoped that the John Wade-trained Riskier can make amends for something of an unfortunate defeat on his latest outing. The eight-year-old was eventually beaten three lengths at Sedgefield in December but would probably have won but for a stumble at the second last, keeping on after that but unable to reel in the leader. Marie Des Anges and Eyre Apparent strike as being the greatest dangers but Riskier boasts plenty of experience in this sphere and seems sure to go well. 

Light Burst will probably take some stopping if he relishes the fibresand whilst Sound Amigo is also interesting as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing effort last time but the one taken to land Southwell's 15:25 is Piceno. The Scott Dixon-trained five-year-old has been running consistently well of late, including when second over C&D, and it may just pay dividend to forgive his run last run last week over a furlong further than today's distance, as he did too much too soon prior to fading early in the straight. His front-running style of racing is ideally suited to this venue and, with their not looking to be a great deal of competition for the lead, Piceno is fancied to bolster his already record at this track. 

A number of contenders in the 16:15 at Taunton are capable of better than they have managed to show of late, particularly so the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Bold Raider who is expected to improve now that he contests handicaps. Admiral Blake is more exposed than that rival but it would be a major disappointment were he not capable of exploiting a lowly handicap mark of 69, and he was relatively unlucky to bump into a subsequent winner when running his best race yet at Lingfield last month. The six-year-old clearly has his limitations but that ought not to put you off him as today could well be his day in the sun.
