Timeform Radio Tips: Force a Reasonable bet

David Cleary brings you two bets from Sedgefield

David Cleary is on the radio this afternoon and he has found two selections at Huntingdon...

An action-packed afternoon in store, with the best quality jumps action taking place at Huntingdon, where the feature event is the listed Sidney Banks Hurdle at 15:30. This looks a good opportunity for Easter Day, though the market is likely to reflect that. Overall, however, the bread-and-butter fare offered at Sedgefield could provide richer pickings from a punting perspective.

The staying chase at 15:10 sees Lincolnshire National winner Soudain bid to get back on track with the assistance of Tony McCoy in the saddle. Soudain will benefit from easier fences to jump than he had last time but his winning form at Market Rasen looks weak and others make more appeal. In particular, Frontier Boy looks one to be on. He stepped up a good deal on his reappearance when a creditable third over hurdles at Ayr last time (under today's 10-lb claimer) and looks primed for this return to fences, over a course and distance where he gained his win last season. Frontier Boy is well treated on that defeat of Riskier and a reproduction ought to be good enough to win this afternoon. Angel Sun looks the main danger, though he has his stamina to prove over this three-furlong longer trip.

A field of eight is due to go to post for the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase at 16:40, and seven of them are essentially exposed as poor. The one exception is Reasonable Force who could be about ready to show his true worth as a chaser. He has had three starts over fences so far, two of them in novice/maiden events where he was not competitive but wasn't punished unduly either; in between he ran behind his odds-on stable companion Brave Spartacus in a handicap at Catterick, sent off at 25/1 off a BHA mark of 108. He made no impact in that company - the winner is useful - but again was spared a hard race. Reasonable Force has since been dropped to 100, hence he gets in against much more limited opponents today. He won here on his final start over hurdles last season and would be well in if able to show that level of form again, so if he's ever going to make it over fences, Reasonable Force ought to win this low-grade race.

Recommended Bets:

Back Frontier Boy @ 6.05/1 in the 15.10 at Sedgefield
Back Reasonable Force @ 4.47/2 in the 16.40 at Sedgefield
