Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Djakadam out for compensation at Gowran Park

Willie Mullins will be hoping Djakadam can put things right at Gowran

Timeform's Irish team bring you three win selections from this afternoon's all hurdle/bumper card at Gowran Park...

Willie Mullins has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal with regards to novice hurdlers this season and while Djakadam cannot not be talked about in the same breath as some of his more high-profile stablemates at this stage, he should prove capable of getting off the mark in this sphere sooner rather than later. The ex-French gelding made his debut for the Mullins yard in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last month and, though he was working harder than his odds suggested he might, he was set to score when blundering at the last and unseating soon after. Given that was his first outing for nine months, he is entitled to come on for that outing and Djakadam looks worth supporting in his quest for quick compensation.

Sumkindasuprstar is better known for his exploits over fences than over hurdles but, after a bit of a slow start, he has developed into a fairly useful sort over the larger obstacles, scoring at Roscommon in May and producing some sound efforts in defeat since. Sumkindasuprstar comes here on the back of a respectable fifth in the Thyestes Chase at this course last month in which he ran off a mark of 124. He reverts to hurdles this afternoon off a mark of just 97 and looks sure to go very close if reproducing his chase form back over hurdles.

Lookoutnow is likely to be a warm order in the 16:10 following his demolition job over fences at this course last month. On that performance he will take some beating back over hurdles, but it is worth noting that he has looked a much better chaser than hurdler and so it may pay to side with the progressive All The Way Home. A former point winner, All The Way Home was brought along steadily over hurdles, but she has looked a different animal since tackling handicaps, chasing home Ballyquin Queen at Tramore prior to comfortably landing a 14-runner event at Limerick last month. A 7 lb rise for that success looks fair and she remains unexposed in this sphere.

Recommended Bets:

Back Djakadam in the 14.35
Back SumkindaSuprstar in the 15:40
Back All The Way Home in the 16:10
