Racing takes place at Carlisle on Monday.
Timeform analyse an intriguing handicap chase at Carlisle staged over three and a quarter miles...
Sydney Paget was a bumper winner who won couple of 2m novice hurdles last term. Progressing over fences, comfortably making all in maiden at Towcester last time, and likely to go well with conditions to suit.
Mcmurrough has found his feet over fences, taking another step forward when following up Newcastle win at Wetherby (2m) on Boxing Day. Put in his place at Cheltenham since, and vulnerable again.
You Know Yourself developed into a fairly useful chaser in 2011/12, successful twice here (up to 3m) and as good as ever when placed at Kelso twice this term. Acts on heavy.
Arbor Supreme returned to something like old self when landing Devon Marathon at Exeter before good fourth in Welsh National. Poor effort next time shows he's not one to trust implicitly, though.
Vamizi goes well here, winning over 3m in March and good second on return. Poor effort at Haydock last time but weighted to be competitive back at his favourite venue.
My Boy Paddy opened chasing account in mud at Chepstow (3m) last term and better for recent run when second over that C&D in December. Below par in tongue tie last time, though.
Emperor's Choice landed pair of staying handicap hurdles in spring. Hasn't looked an easy ride over fences, but jumped more fluently last 2 starts, winning maiden at Taunton most recently, and on a fair mark.
Markadam goes well here, and took track record to 3-3 when reverting to fences (3m) recently. 12 lb higher now but still of interest around here.
Roseneath has won 4 times over fences, most recently on reappearance at Hereford (25f) in November. Pulled up/refused to race in 3 starts since, though, so questions to answer.
Classic Cut returned to form second comeback run following a couple of years on the sidelines when fourth at Kelso (23f) in December. Ran poorly next time, though, and different headgear applied.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Sydney Paget
2. Emperor's Choice
3. Markadam
Timeform Verdict: Last-time-out winners Sydney Paget, Emperor's Choice and Markadam make the most appeal, and they are preferred in that order.
