Today's two FTM positives run at Ffos Las
Today's movers come from the meetings at Ffos Las and Market Rasen...
We begin at Market Rasen where Darley Sun has been on the drift in the 2m5f Novice Hurdle at 14:00, now available to back at 4.03/1 having been as low as 3.052/1. This former Cesarewitch winner and Group performer on the flat makes his hurdles debut today for in-form trainer John Ferguson, who has done well with this type in his short training career. However the gelding has been pretty much on the downgrade for some time now and the soft conditions are not likely to be in his favour. With the market speaking against him, the switching of codes may not be enough to rejuvenate this classy type.
We go to Ffos Las for our first positive where Miss Kalifa continues to be supported to take the 2m6f Handicap Hurdle at 15:50, in to 5.14/1 from 8.66n/a. This mare hasn't exactly excelled since going over fences earlier this season, well beaten on her first two runs, but posted an improved effort when only weakening out of contention at the last having led for a long way last time out at Ludlow. The return to hurdles here still seems something of a positive and she runs off a mark around a stone lower than she was this time last year. Having recorded her only previous win at this course and with form in soft conditions, it's only the form of trainer Peter Bowen that slightly tempers enthusiasm. However the gamble indicates she can return to winning ways today.
We stay at the Welsh venue for our final selection where Lakota Ghost's odds have contracted in the 2m Handicap Hurdle at 16:50, now trading at 4.3100/30 from an early 6.86/1. This five-year-old hasn't shown much of an aptitude for hurdling so far having finished well-beaten on all four starts to date, the last of which was a tailed off effort at Fontwell back in October. However he comes here on the back of a recent, clear win on the fibresand at Southwell, showing himself to be in good form, and trainer Seamus Durack has his string in good heart with two winners from his last four runners. Switched to handicap company and with the money down, the gelding can post an improved performance.
