Timeform's Martin Dixon fancies some big-priced horses at Lingfield
Timeform's Chief Reporter, Martin Dixon, brings you his best bets on the all-weather on Thursday...
It's rare that sprint maidens at the all-weather tracks through the winter take much winning and Lingfield's 13:45 this afternoon is a case in point. First Serve sets a low standard and is opposable at the head of the betting, whilst the exposed Jermatt and once-raced Dangerous Age, whose debut came in a weak contest, are also worth taking on. Magic Iceshowed promise in a race that's working out well on debut and her odds-on defeat in a muddling 3-runner race last time is forgivable. She looks overpriced to me at 9.08/1, and it's also worth backing Jeremy Gask's newcomer Green Millionaire (currently trading at 9.8), who makes plenty of appeal on pedigree.
Lingfield's 14:45 is a competitive race involving plenty of in-form horses, but at a big price Chokidar is worth backing to small stakes. He hasn't stood much racing over the last 12 months but was progressive on polytrack at the end of 2011 and, on his best form, still looks on a fair mark of 75. Scott Dixon has had a very quiet winter so far, having shut his yard down for most of December/January, but encouragement can be taken from a couple of seconds in recent days.
Recommended Bets:
Back Magic Ice @ 9.08/1 and Green Millionaire @ 9.89/1 in the 13:45 at Lingfield
Back Chokidar @ 22.021/1 in the 14:45 at Lingfield
