Dr Livingstone bids to enhance his good record in jumpers' bumpers
Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide to a competitive jumpers' bumper at Lingfield...
Colebrooke won soft-ground juvenile hurdles at Fontwell and Sandown last season, but has struggled with the handicapper since. Cheekpieces tried now, and respected on Flat form shown here for Mark Johnston.
Dark Energy has produced improved efforts for new yard, winning twice at Market Rasen in November. Below form at Ludlow last time, when tendency to find little again in evidence, and percentage call is to oppose.
Dr Livingstone was held back by temperament when last seen over jumps in first half of 2011, but has returned to form in jumpers' bumpers of late, winning at Kempton last time. Much respected in current mood.
Hightown is a point winner who showed a modicum of promise in early hurdles runs, but stopped quickly on handicap bow at Stratford in July, and absent since. Plenty to prove on return.
Mickelson was a dual winning hurdler for Noel Meade during the first half of 2012, but not as good over fences. Needed run/stamina stretched on debut for new yard last time, and better expected now.
Shuil Royale was unbeaten in bumpers, and much improved when winning Wincanton handicap hurdle in January 2012. Creditable efforts on both starts over fences, and merits serious consideration back in this sphere.
Sparrow Hills improved on form shown for previous yard when winning pair of handicap hurdles at Wincanton in January 2011. Offered little on return from an absence in November, however.
Trip The Light was a fairly useful hurdler, but gone off the boil in that sphere. Plenty of winning Flat form in his time with Richard Fahey, though, so not a huge surprise to see him bounce back given this test.
Bollin Judith was successful 3 times up to 2m on the Flat for Tim Easterby in 2011. Off the mark over hurdles at Newton Abbot in April, and shaped well when fourth at Taunton in November. Not easily dismissed now.
Compassion showed fair form on Flat for Michael Bell in 2011, but has offered little in 4 hurdle starts thus far. Visor proved no help to her last time, and others look much stronger again.
Oscar Baby relished the step up in trip when winning 2m Fakenham handicap in April, and good third there following month. Well held after a break in October, however, and looks vulnerable in this company.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Dr Livingstone
2. Shuil Royale
3. Mickelson
Timeform View: Dr Livingstone has bounced back to form in similar events on his last 2 starts, and is marginally preferred to Shuil Royale and Mickelson in a competitive race of its nature.
