It's all about the all-weather
It's an all-weather special today with market-driven bets from Wolverhampton and Lingfield
Alaskan Bullet doesn't leap off the formbook as a likely winner of the 13:50 at Lingfield - he's not been competitive in his races this year and runs from 7lbs out of the handicap today. So there was no surprise to see him matched at 23.022/1 yet he now trades around half of those odds 11.5n/a. Is this inspired money or a silly punt? His shrewd trainer has already conjured one win from Alaskan Bullet when the money was down (admittedly a selling race). Nathan Alison negates five pounds of the extra weight; more important will be for him to gain a quicker start today. We may know our fate early in this race.
Presburg ran a pleasing race a couple of weeks ago at Kempton on his return to All-Weather racing and is fancied to go one better today back at Wolverhampton, the scene of his only victory to date. Matched around 4.57/2 early doors, he now trades at 3.7511/4, with his two closest market rivals notably weak in the betting. Last time he seemed to run better for having more use made of him early in the race and expect him to travel prominently again today as Liam Keniry keeps the ride.
The lay of the day comes in the last race. Precision Five, has been running well and now finds himself in a race with better horses as a consequence, and we'd rather have the rest of the field running for us. It would have been nice to lay the initial changes at 3.052/1 but 3.9n/a is still short enough.
