Punters will need to pace themselves at Wolverhampton today
Horses running at Lingfield, Musselburgh and at the bumper 15-race Wolverhampton card feature in today's SmartPlays.
My Boy Paddy (13:50 Lingfield) is lightly raced for a nine-year-old but he was fairly useful over hurdles and has already matched that level of form over fences, breaking his chasing duck in a heavy-ground Beginners event at Chepstow in March and well backed before following home a well-treated Sona Sasta at that venue last month. He remains unexposed over the larger obstacles and holds decent claims of nabbing this event on his way to better things.
A bumper winner who won a couple of 2-mile novice hurdles last term, Sydney Paget(14:10 Musselburgh) fluffed his lines on his chasing debut in the autumn, still close up and well in contention when falling late on in novice event at Kelso, but he's highly regarded by connections and can make amends here after a confidence-boosting effort over hurdles in the interim.
Reaction (16:30 Wolverhampton) won a couple of times over hurdles in the autumn and was well backed when just touched off by Tram Express on his return to polytrack over this course-and-distance last week. The pair renew rivalry today on revised terms with Michael Appleby's charge 6 lb better off for a neck defeat that day, so he looks all set to take his revenge.
