Follow The Money: De Riguer is de riguer at Wolverhampton

Philip Hobbs trains our final selection of the day

Today's movers come from the meetings at Wolverhampton, Musselburgh and Lingfield.

We start at Wolverhampton where the money continues to come for De Rigueur in the 1m4f Handicap at 13:30, now trading at 2.3611/8 from an early 3.02/1. This Montjeu gelding was formerly trained in Germany and has won two from four races since arriving on these shores, his last run being a two length victory over course and distance three weeks ago. Although up 8lb for that success the third placed horse that day, hat-trick seeking Sir Boss, is 4lb worse off here and is one of the chief market rivals. With trainer Marco Botti achieving a 43% strike rate with his recent runners the move indicates the five-year-old can follow up.

Next we're at Musselburgh for our negative, where Sleep In First remains on the drift in the 2m Handicap Chase at 13:40, out to 3.3512/5 from 2.829/5. This James Ewart-trained seven-year-old makes only his second appearance over fences today, being pulled up on his only other start over the bigger obstacles at Sedgefield last April. If that doesn't exactly inspire confidence then neither does the geldings winless record from 15 career starts to date, although in fairness he ran a more promising race last time out. With the distance looking on the short side and facing a competitive if small field, the walk in the market suggests he won't lose his maiden tag today.

For our final selection we head to Lingfield where Ballygarvey has been well-supported to take the 2m4f Handicap Chase at 13:50, now available to back at 4.216/5 having been as big as 7.58n/a. Since winning over hurdles on heavy ground here at Lingfield over the distance this seven-year-old has been well-beaten in his four subsequent starts. However his last run, a first over fences, was also his first for trainer Phillip Hobbs and was on ground and over a distance that didn't suit. With his handler sending out six winners from his previous 27 runners and jockey Tom O'Brien operating at a recent strike rate of 23% as well as riding five winners from his last 14 runners at the course, the gelding ticks a lot of boxes. The gamble says he can return to form today.
