Our first selection runs in the 14:50 as we side with Calculating. Mark Usher's charge has notched up six wins at this venue, including when bouncing back to form last time, and, while it is true to say that he has also been beaten plenty of times here, he evidently handles the fibresand surface extremely well. It is a slight concern that Calculating hasn't always been the most consistent of performers, but his latest victory signified a re-emergence from the doldrums and he has slipped to a fair mark. This offers a good opportunity for Calculating to continue his revival and he can register a seventh course win.

We don't have a long wait until our next bet as we side with Roger Varian's last-time-out winner Naalatt to make a successful handicap bow in the 15:20. Formerly with Mahmood Al Zarooni, Naalatt showed improved form on her first start for Varian, seemingly relishing the fibresand surface as she powered clear of her rivals to score by eight lengths. That race was fairly uncompetitive, but it was encouraging to see how well Naalatt travelled and quickened, suggesting that dropping back to seven furlongs will not prove to be a problem, and she can win again for Varian.

Elusive Hawk seems to be in really good heart at present and is dangerous to oppose in the 16:20. An impressive winner at Kempton three starts ago, he looked extremely unlucky not to supplement that win at Lingfield, carried wide by a loose horse entering the straight, but he made amends when registering a comfortable victory here last week. David Evans has turned his nine-year-old out again fairly quickly, but he has been taking his racing well of late and appears to be thriving. There is little reason to suggest he won't make a bold bid today.
