The second WGC event of the season is already upon us, and the betting.betfair golf contributors have provided their each way selections in the hope that they can find someone who can tame the Blue Monster...

Mike Norman: Back Jason Day @ 36.035/1

Looking through past results at Doral it's perhaps significant that Australians have always performed well here. The likes of Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley, Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy have recorded some decent finishes (Ogilvy winning in 2008) at the Blue Monster in recent years and hopefully this week's renewal is Jason Day's turn. This talented Aussie has started the season in superb fashion, recording three top-10 finishes from four events played including an excellent third at the last WGC event. He finished in a tie for 20th here last year when his game wasn't in such great shape, so just normal improvement should see him get a lot closer this week.

Joe Dyer: Back Dustin Johnson @ 41.0n/a

It's been an inconsistent year so far for Dustin Johnson who has endured a mixed bag of results since winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January. However, a look at DJ's record over the years shows the odd missed cut or poor performance followed by a win or top-five so, at odds of 40-1, I'm happy to take a chance on this high-quality long hitter. A runner-up spot in 2011 shows he can play the course and the inflated price, due to those average finishes, is just an added bonus for backers of this future major winner.

Dan Geraghty: Back Rory McIlroy @ 26.025/1

Rory McIlroy played quite well tee to green against Shane Lowry at the Match Play, he played quite well tee to green on day one at the Honda last week. Toothache thoroughly explains his horrible collapse on day two (hmm), so we can forgive that. Really, I have no idea which way it will go for Rory this week but I do know that it's entirely possible he puts his bad run behind him and wins. Wee Mac missed three cuts in a row last year before finishing his season with a flourish; like Phil Mickelson, the Northern Irishman appears to be able to drift drastically in and out of form at a moment's notice. 25/1 EW in a 60 man field? Yes please.

Steve Rawlings: Back Bubba Watson @ 29.028/1

Having suffered with a few niggling illnesses early on in the year, Bubba Watson hasn't kicked off 2013 anywhere near as well as I thought he would but this looks like a great opportunity for the big-hitting lefty to get back on track. The Blue Monster at Doral really suits his game and he'll feel it owes him one after last year, when he failed to convert a 54-hole three-stroke lead.

Paul Krishnamurty: Back Matt Kuchar @ 19.018/1

After an impeccable performance to win the World Matchplay last time out, it would be folly to abandon Matt Kuchar, especially given ideal conditions at Doral. He's finished top-eight in the past three WGC-Cadillac Championship renewals and only missed one top-20 in Florida over the last four years. Nobody is putting better right now and the importance of that cannot be overstated on greens measuring 11.8 on the stimp-meter. I'm expecting another big week, generating further momentum ahead of the Masters.
