Lingfield Placepot: Monday March 25

14:10 - The Jeremy Gask-trained Prince of Burma caught the eye when finishing fifth on his penultimate start and it is worth forgiving his below-par effort last time as he was not equipped with his now customary blinkers. The five-year-old looks well-treated on these terms as he drops into a seller for the first time and he should get back on the scoreboard. 

14:40 - None of the six competitors in this field make any real appeal, so we are faced with something of a tricky proposition. Our only saving grace is that we have two places to aim at so the best solution is probably to include Hidden Link, who ought to be suited by the return to a mile, and Tebbit, who may pull out a bit more now fitted with headgear, and hope that one of them hits the mark. 

15:10 - Elusive Hawk seems sure to go close running here under a penalty incurred for a simple success at Kempton a week ago but, given that he is likely to be carrying an overwhelming proportion of Placepot lines, we may be best served by taking him on in the hope that he misses out. The two we shall side with are Sannibel and West Leake, with the former expected to bounce back having seemingly failed to handle fibresand last time and the latter still feasibly treated, when bearing in mind his old form, despite having gone up 2 lb for his win over C&D last time. 

15:40 - The Roger Teal-trained Red Larkspur is of interest with the booking of Richard Hughes and the fitting of the hood for the first time catching the eye but the safest option is Amethyst Dawn, who is pretty consistent, having hit the frame on her last four starts, and there is no reason why she shouldn't go close here. 

16:10 - This looks set to develop into a match between Limit Up and Mysterial and, with there being two places on offer at present, we need take only one of them. The first mentioned may boast a fitness edge having taken to the track 10 days ago but he isn't certain to appreciate the return to sprinting, so we will instead side with the Richard Hannon-trained Mysterial, who cost 150,000 gns as a yearling and is from the family of Irish 1000 Trusted Partner. He ran to a similar level in a trio of maidens last year and has been gelded during his absence, so it is not out of the question that he could prove capable of better now. 

16:40 - 14 go to post for a pretty competitive closing leg, but we are quite content to bank upon Irene Kennet as we attempt to get across the line. The six-year-old left her maiden form behind to land a brace of all-weather handicaps in January but has actually improved in two starts since despite failing to add to her tally. Her likeable attitude and steadily progressive profile seem likely to stand her in good stead here and she ought to make a good fist of at least hitting the places.
