We don't have to wait long for our first SmartPlay as we select the Phillip Hobbs-trained Bincombe to get us off to a flying start in the opening contest at Warwick. The selection appears to have been let into handicaps on a fair mark and has performed well on his two most recent outings, finishing third at Exeter before filling the same position at Wincanton last month. He shaped really well last time, travelling smoothly for a long way, and he promises to strike from this mark sooner rather than later.

Warwick's 15:30 is a handicap hurdle low on competition, with many of the contenders in questionable form; bearing that in mind the 3.613/5 presently available about Shalambar, who represents the bang in form Tony Carroll yard, makes plenty of appeal. The seven-year-old's form took off once contesting handicaps, scoring on his first two outings in early 2011 and, although he has been fairly disappointing in four sporadic runs over timber since, he has been kept active on the Flat, winning at Kempton last month, and the visor that was in place for the first time that day is retained here. It's not a great race, but Shalambar is fancied to make a good fist of winning it. 

Back to his best last time, Nodebateaboutit can build on his promising second at Bangor and get his head back in front in the 16:00 at Warwick. A chaser on appearance, Tom George's gelding instantly bettered his hurdles form when switched to the larger obstacles, scoring at the first attempt at Wetherby on Boxing Day 2011, and he was unlucky not to complete a hat-trick of wins when brought down on his final start at Perth, having scored with ease at Lingfield in between. He was undoubtedly disappointing on his first two starts this term, pulled up on both occasions having shaped as if something was amiss, but his latest effort at Bangor was significantly more encouraging, the way in which he travelled particularly taking. This represents a good opportunity for Nodebateaboutit and he can get back on the winning trail.
