J. P. McManus' Never Enough Time can land the first at Cork
Cork stages its annual student raceday today and we have picked out three more SmartPlays.....
Never Enough Time made quite a promising start over hurdles when fifth to Way Up In The Air at Punchestown in January and, although he failed to build on that form when beaten thirty one lengths into third by Un de Sceaux at the same track last time, he looks the one to beat in the maiden hurdle at 14.50. Tom Foley's gelding remains open to improvement and this race is unlikely to take much winning.
Wing It Lady would have won a bit easier but for a mistake at the second last at Gowran last time, so is taken to defy a 7 lb penalty in the two mile handicap hurdle at 15.55. She is still relatively unexposed in this sphere having had just the five starts over timber and this flat track will play to Wing It Lady's strengths.
Unoccupied is sure to have his supporters in the feature race on the card, the UCC Horse Racing Society Handicap Hurdle (16:30), following his wide-margin win at Limerick on Sunday. However, it is entirely possible that he may not be fully recovered from his exertions on what was very deep ground there, so it may be best to take him on in a race full of viable alternatives. Eoghan O'Grady's gelding is due to go up a further seven pounds in future handicaps but it is worth noting that he has yet to win at three miles and he doesn't appear to be the most consistent.
Timeform Irish SmartPlays:
Back Never Enough Time in the 14:50
Back Wing It Lady in the 15:55
Place Lay Unoccupied in the 16:30
