Taunton Placepot: Monday March 11

Taunton plays host to racing on Monday.

A successful permutation here would provide us with some ammunition for the impending Cheltenham Festival but, at the same time, we don't want to be squandering cash unnecessarily. Therefore Timeform's Matt Gardner advises an economical two-line Placepot at Taunton...

14:20 - The Nicky Henderson-trained Little Dutch Girl, who was fairly useful on the Flat for Clive Cox, is a restrictive price but looks to have been found a good opportunity to open her account over timber at the fourth time of asking.

14:50 - Three places are on offer here at present so we are fairly content to bank upon Brockwell Park, who makes her second start in handicaps for trainer Jeremy Scott here. The six-year-old has improved with each start over hurdles, running her best race yet when third to Midnight Belle at Ludlow in January, and the suspicion is that she is capable of better still with today's step up in trip expected to suit.

15:20 - Minella For Party lost nothing in defeat when second to Edmund Kean over C&D last month and, with that one going on to run well in a valuable handicap at Sandown over the weekend, it would come as a surprise were the Tim Vaughan-trained six-year-old not to be involved here.

15:50 - We're going to be a bit indulgent here and include two, mainly due to us needing to select the winner and each of the runners having a variety of questions to answer. The pair selected are The Knoxs, who is the best horse in this race but was slightly let down by a tame finishing effort at Newbury last time, and Sona Sasta, who is the second best horse in this race, should find this affair easier than his last assignment may be rekindled by the fitting of blinkers.

16:20 - Meirig's Dream is shading favouritism at present but, in truth, he has shown very little ability either on the Flat or over jumps, so we will instead side with Think Its All Over. The six-year-old was fair on the Flat, has offered some promise since being switched to timber and has obvious potential for improvement now handicapping.

16:50 - Although Rebel Du Marquis' best form has come on a decent surface he looks to be another powerful recruit to the hunter chasing game for trainer Paul Nicholls, and he ought to prove far too good for his four rivals here.

14:20 - 4
14:50 - 5
15:20 - 4
15: 50 - 1, 2
