"Britania Joan has proved hard to beat over Hove’s 475m trip, where she has won five of her last six and rates the best bet on the Sussex track’s card on Thursday evening (20:02). Maria Collins’ bitch overcame a trap three draw last week but will be more at home from her trap five slot"
Racing Post Greyhound TV has not one but two finals to get stuck into at Romford this Friday evening as the Sky Channel 212 service kicks off another three nights of live action. Darrell Williams is across the best of the action.
If last week's heats are anything to go by we're set for a thrilling Marathon final (21:06) but one which can go the way of course specialist Aero Rebel, who can take her record to five from five over the 750m trip.
Paul Young's bitch, who also holds the 925m track record, has won her last six races at the Essex track and while effective from any box will be more suited to trap three after making a beeline for the rails from a wider draw in the heats. Ard Vark landed a gamble when winning her heat last week, but may prove vulnerable to the stronger runners this time particularly Black Lamora, who made up a huge amount of ground on the second lap last week.
Borna Monty was the quickest of the heat winners in the March Hare Trophy on Monday night and Jim Reynolds puppy is taken to beat his elders in the final (21:24). Highly effective from a middle draw he can enjoy a clearer run to the bend than Nans Turbo and Droopys Stevie who could inconvenience each other. Rio Minstrel is better than his run behind the selection in the heats and rates the danger.
Mark Wallis' Darian Chief, third in the Coronation Cup back in January, is taken to follow up last week's win over 575m (21:56) where quick starting Droopys Ultana can take care of the wider runners.
However Wallis' prolific scoring kennelmate Ayamzaman might be worth taking on again in the 20:18. Something of a 'sequence dog' he has been poorly away in his last four races and could again be one for the layers especially with fast starting Alterra in the line-up, who is taken to make it three from four over the 400m trip.
Express Trend has a peach of a draw inside five seeded runners and it will be a disappointment if she can't return to winning form in the finale (22:40) over 750m where she has a two from four record.
Britania Joan has proved hard to beat over Hove's 475m trip, where she has won five of her last six and rates the best bet on the Sussex track's card on Thursday evening (20:02). Maria Collins' bitch overcame a trap three draw last week but will be more at home from her trap five slot. Guinness Dusty, beaten less than a length by the selection last week, has however not won in over twenty starts and is one for the layers.
Teejaysblackhawk has provided a regular source of income for layers - he is now fifteen without a win - but has a chance to finally put the record straight in the maiden at 19:46 where he has a golden opportunity to lead and is taken to hold Sparta Bama.
For the 'bet at any price' brigade, the remarkable Your A Champ is as ever impossible to oppose in the sprint at 20:18, while elsewhere Sakara Sky, having beaten Swift Signal last month, might be worth chancing to repeat the feat in a competitive stayers race at 20:34. Fabulous Sienna is drawn to go better than her odds might suggest in the novice contest at 22:26.
Henlow provides a crackerjack of a contest over four bends at 20:58, but despite an absence going back to December, Any Dak is fancied to bounce back to winning ways first time. Hazel Kemp's dog has excellent form over the 460m trip and can make all the running.
Westmead Shaw looks the logical choice to make it nine wins in his last ten races over the 428m trip (20:10), while Savana Roberto can use his early pace to claim the 550m contest at 21:48, where a lay of Droopys English, who has proved hard to win with of late, can pay for the stake.
