Timeform Daily: Monday, Kempton 14:50

Can Aegaeus make a winning return?

Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide to the second race on Kempton's Monday card...

Kaafel landed a gamble on first start since leaving Charles Hills when taking competitive Lingfield handicap over this trip in December. Just respectable efforts when sixth both starts since, though.

Sondeduro improved to win 1m Bath minor event in June and better still when second in 1m AW handicap next time. Not seen since disappointing at Goodwood in August but is less exposed than most here.

Croquembouche was a Folkestone winner for current yard in July, and better form when close second at Pontefract and Sandown in August. Went off boil in autumn but yard in form ahead of return/AW debut.

Perfect Cracker was much improved on polytrack in 2011, winning maiden/handicap at up to 1m here. Not been in quite the same form since, however, and remains to be seen if longer trip is the answer.

Tadabeer is a lightly-raced sort who showed improved form when winning a C&D handicap last month. 4 lb rise for that not excessive and should be competitive again.

Aegaeus is Ouija Board's second foal and gradually progressive in 2012, placed twice in handicaps before landing a 1m Lingfield maiden in October. Returns with yard among winners and looks sure to go well.

Balady made all in 7f soft-ground Goodwood maiden for John Dunlop last May and aquitted himself well in handicaps later in 2012. De Sousa a positive booking on return for a new yard.

Askaud is on long losing run and struggles to string performances together, following a fince second over C&D in February with a couple of modest efforts since. Others make greater appeal.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Aegaeus
2. Tadabeer
3. Sondeduro

Timeform Verdict: Aegaeus could easily have more to come in 2013 will probably take a bit of stopping on his return to action. Last month's C&D scorer Tadabeer is an obvious threat, with the lightly-raced Sondeduro another interesting runner.
