WGC Cadillac Tips: The pick of the first round three-ball bets

Kuchar loves Doral

A small field has assembled in Doral for the WGC Cadillac Championship and Dan Geraghty suggests backing the following quartet on the first day to get your tournament off to a winning start...

First up, an apology to my girlfriend, it appears Paul Casey is finished after all(cue a sweeping victory in Puerto Rico this week). I have to admit it though, I've backed him again! Godspeed, Paul!

While Casey battles to reignite his career in Puerto Rico, the current best players in the world are battling it out on another Donald Trump course at the WGC Cadillac Championship. That, of course, is where this week's three-ball selections are coming from.

Matt Kuchar's record around Doral is far superior to that of playing partners Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter. The WGC Matchplay champion looks an easy selection to beat the English pair on day one.

Tim Clark looks like the forgotten man this week, his price on the exchange (220.0219/1) stands out a mile. Clark has more experience around Doral than playing partner Bill Haas and I think their prices should be similar for day one honours. Scott Jamieson makes up the three-ball and looks a little out of his depth.

Francesco Molinari hasn't really got going yet this season, but the Italian has a great record at Doral. He has finished in the top 15 on each of his three appearances, the best coming in 2011 when he was third. He looks overpriced to outscore Ryan Moore and Branden Grace who have no form here to write home about.

I've a sneaky feeling Doral could suit last week's victor Michael Thompson, I wouldn't be surprised to see the former amateur world number one go well again. He's paired with another couple of Doral debutants from the European Tour - Chris Wood and Stephen Gallagher - and is a worthy favourite to come out on top.
