Timeform Radio Tips: Wednesday March 20

David's bets today come from Warwick

David Cleary picks out a couple of bets at Warwick on Wednesday.

Small fields on testing ground is the order of the day with the two remaining jumps cards this afternoon, the third scheduled meeting, at Newcastle, having been lost to the weather. Of the pair, Warwick makes more appeal from a punting point of view than Haydock, with the staying handicap hurdle at 16.05 about as open a race as there is all afternoon.

Seven are set to go to post. Gilded Age is hard to fancy, and while All For Cash can be given a decent chance on his reappearance form, his attitude has looked a problem over fences subsequently. Killimore Cottage won three in a row on bad ground earlier in the winter but the form looks weak and he ran well below his best last time. The Red Laird handles the conditions well but a 7-lb penalty for his narrow win at Plumpton last week probably requires him to be better than ever to win this. That leaves a trio of unexposed sorts: Madame Allsorts, Priest Island and He's The Daddy. There's a case to be made for each of them, though preference at the morning prices is for Priest Island. He is well treated on the form on his hurdling debut in a well-contested novice at Chepstow, and although he hasn't shown that level in two starts after a lengthy absence this season, Priest Island was strong in the betting on his handicap debut at Fontwell last month. He fell two out that day when a close third and responding to pressure. While Priest Island might not have won had he stood up then, he showed enough to suggest he's on a competitive mark and the step up in trip this afternoon will be all in his favour.

Just three go to post for the handicap chase at 17.05, all three coming into the race in form. It may be worth giving Have You Seen Me one more chance. He led in a race full of pace at Southwell last time, jumping boldly but just doing a little too much in the end. That form looks solid and was boosted when the fourth won at Fakenham last week. With both his rivals today also usually ridden up with the pace and with a quick run of five fences at the start of today's race, getting the lead and getting into a rhythm could well be key. Have You Seen Me showed last time that he is equipped to do just that. Speedy Bruere will face more of a test of jumping than he has in winning at Towcester and Fontwell, while the form of Denali Highway's recent Huntingdon win has been let down since.
