Timeform Daily: Wednesday, Ayr 13:40

David Pipe: Trainer of Kings Palace.

With the prospect of some National Hunt action on Wednesday, Timeform take you through an interesting novices' hurdle at Ayr...

Ballybogey was pulled up sole start in points but fared better when 10 lengths second to Green Flag on Rules debut in 2m novice hurdle here. Only fourth in Navan bumper since and meets some promising sorts here.

Bishops Gate finished runner-up twice in points in 2011. Taken time to get him to the track but hails from yard which has a couple of useful novice hurdlers in its care at present and worth a market check.

Blue Lodge finished runner-up in a maiden point in Ireland in May 2012 and bought for $15,000 later that month. Watching brief the percentage call on hurdling bow.

Clondaw Flicka was vought for 40,000 after finishing second in maiden Irish point last April. Not pulled up any trees in couple of bumpers since, however, and may need further than this before making mark over jumps.

Heron's Mill made a promising start over hurdles when 16 lengths third in 2m Newcastle maiden last month, and possibly failed to stay 2m when below that level at Kelso since.

Jovial was a fair handicapper at up to 1m on Flat for Denis Coakley earlier in career but tailed off in couple of outings over hurdles in recent weeks.

Kings Palace made a most promising start in bumpers, winning easily at Plumpton before finishing second to Captain Cutter (pair clear) in listed event at Ascot. Looks a good prospect for novice hurdles.

Red Admirable finished runner-up twice from 8 starts in points and showed fair form when 10 lengths third in 12-runner Down Royal bumper on Boxing Day. Yard's runners here always respected but this could be a warm race.

Thimaar was a smart stayer on Flat for John Gosden. Won't have faced conditions as testing as these before but clearly a very interesting recruit to hurdling.

Luctor Emergo was a fair, if quirky performer at up to 1m on Flat. Not achieved a great deal in couple of starts over hurdles in recent weeks and probably more one for handicaps a bit further down the line.

Titus Bolt was a modest handicapper on the Flat for Jim Boyle, winning over 1m at Windsor in July. Chances are he'll find a few too strong on hurdling bow.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Kings Palace
2. Thimaar
3. Red Admirable

Timeform Verdict: Hurdling newcomers Kings Palace and Thimaar rather stand out here. The former has already shown he goes well in testing conditions in bumpers and that just tilts things in his favour.
