Premier League on Betfair: 1.04 United denied at the death by Dempsey

Dempsey delighted White Hart Lane with his goal at the death

Spurs hit United late on to send White Hart Lane into raptures as the title favourites are held...

Manchester United were backed at 1.041/25 in-play on Betfair to win an engrossing late afternoon encounter with Spurs at White Hart Lane only to be denied by a Clint Dempsey goal right at the death.

A lone Robin van Persie goal was all that separated the two sides for much of a hard-fought game between two of the league's best footballing teams.

Spurs beat the champions-elect for possession and shots but couldn't find a way past David De Gea who made two sublime saves to keep his team on track - Gareth Bale going close in the first-half and Dempsey in the second.

Van Persie - 1.784/5 to win the golden boot - headed the visitors into a lead midway through the first-half to score his 24th goal in all competitions.

But it will be Dempsey who makes the headlines after scoring in the 93rd minute to reward in-play backers of the draw at 29.028/1. Over 1.5 goals touched 14.5n/a before the American's finish.

United are 1.434/9 to win the Premier League with champions City, the only real opposition in the title race, trading at 3.814/5.

Chelsea are the only other team trading under 100.099/1 after edging Arsenal in the early kick-off - the Blues available to back at 36.035/1.

Juan Mata and Frank Lampard put Chelsea 2-0 up before 20 minutes had gone with the visitors seemingly not up for the fight.

It was a different Arsenal who came out for the second 45, and Theo Walcott gave the fans hope with a finish past Petr Cech as he ran on to a Santi Carzola through ball.

But it wasn't to be and the Gunners now trail fourth-placed Spurs by seven points. Tottenham are 2.226/5 to end the season in the Champions League places, Arsenal are 2.56/4.
