Timeform Dubai SmartPlays: Friday November 16

Today's SmartPlays are at Jebel Ali.

Timeform suggest three bets on Friday's card at Jebel Ali...

The opening maiden at 10:55 looks a tricky affair but I am prepared to risk Ru'oud who would have outstanding claims if he could even get remotely close to repeating the form of his first two outings when in the care of Saeed bin Suroor. That was back in 2010 when a strong-travelling second to Colour Vision at Thirsk and shaping in similar fashion when fifth to Census at Bath, his only subsequent run coming at Jebel Ali last season when fifth behind Dhabyani Dream. Hopefully a summer of acclimatising in Dubai will have done him the world of good and whilst obviously his wellbeing needs to be taken on trust, he should at least represent value with the market likely to get carried away with the luckless run of Special Boy in a handicap off a mark of just 62 here two weeks ago.

Ali Rashid Al Raihe hasn't exactly made his usual flying start to the campaign, several shaping as though they have needed the run, and bearing that in mind I am hoping Ana Emarati can step up on his first outing of the season when contesting the 7f handicap at 11:55. He was a winner at Sharjah last season but also ran some fine races in defeat at this track, particularly on his second outing when chasing home the ultra-consistent Daboos. This appeals as being the weakest handicap he has contested for some time, certainly a lesser race than the one he finished fourth in a couple of weeks ago behind Straight Talk, and hopefully he will be involved in the finish with that run under his belt.

King Charles doesn't win that often but he did score over course and distance last December and he looks to have solid claims of repeating the feat in the final race at 12:55. He ran well enough at Meydan last week, forced into covering plenty of extra ground before fading into seventh behind Lion Sands. He justifiably has a lower mark of 78 on this dirt surface (10 lbs lower than the one he raced off last week) but it still appeals as being a feasible one given he won off 76 last season and was regularly placed off marks in the low 80's subsequently.

RECOMMENDED BETS
All at Jebel Ali
Back Ru'oud win and place in the 10:55
Back Ana Emarati to win in the 11:55
