Home and Away: Eyes on Albion to see off Altrincham

Gary Rowett's side have surpassed expectations in League Two this season.

Jonno Turner goes from Altrincham to Argentina in todays Home and Away column, as he looks to notch up another two winning tips here.

It's the morning after the night before - and as with any post-midweek international Thursday, the football cupboard looks a little bare this morning.

But that's not to say that there isn't value out there if you look hard enough - so I've had my hand down the back of the footballing sofa, and have pulled out a couple of picks to boost the bank balance this morning.

Our first tip takes us to Cheshire - as Conference North side Altrincham welcome League Two Burton Albion to the Moss Lane ground, looking to secure their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

The hosts go into this tie having won just one of their last five outings - and three losses in that time suggests that they may struggle to match the quality of their professional opponents here.

A 3-3 draw in the first meeting between these two sides led to this replay - and it will take another monumental effort from the Robins if they are to keep themselves in with a chance of a Second Round trip to Crewe Alexandra.

And boss Lee Sinnott will be desperate for his side - who are currently in 12th place in the Conference North following three consecutive defeats - to grab something from this game, but it is a big ask second time around.

The visitors have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, and go into this game sitting in the final League Two play off place - a position which they would be delighted with come the end of the season.

Boss Gary Rowett has galvanised this side following some mixed performances under previous incumbent Paul Peschisolido, and he will have been raging at conceding three goals at home to Altrincham in the first meeting between these two sides a couple of weeks ago.

But five unbeaten from seven league games on the road will give the Brewers much confidence ahead of this tie, and that will have pleased the away boss, who has already seen his side knock Sheffield United and Leicester City out of cup competitions this season.

This is bound to be a tough encounter for the professional side - but having conceded three goals in the first meeting, I can't see them making that mistake again, so I'm backing Burton to secure a comfortable, but narrow win.

Bet 1: Burton Albion (AWAY) @ 2.0

We're off to Argentina for our final pick of the day - and in-form Lanus welcome San Martin San Juan to the Estadio Ciudad de Lanus, looking to continue their excellent recent form which has seen them secure five consecutive league wins.

The hosts have moved up into third place in the Primera Division, and are just two points off second ahead of this tie.

Boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto will be delighted with his sides consistency of late - and the home side have lost just one of their last 10 games on their own patch going into this one.

But it's not just the points which will please the Granate boss, it is the manner of the performances which have seen the hosts secure four clean sheets from five outings in front of their own fans.

A 4-1 win over Tigre at the weekend will be a massive boost to confidence in Buenos Aires, and the Lanus momentum shows no sign of slowing as they prepare to welcome their guests this evening.

The away side have won just one game from 11 going into this one, and that has left Gabriel Perrone's charges sitting in 17th place in the table.

Los Verdinegros have not kept a clean sheet away from the Estadio del Bicentenario San Juan since June, and those defensive weaknesses could cost them as they travel to a Lanus side which is full of attacking prowess and confidence here.

The hosts are unbeaten in three of their last four meetings with San Martin de San Juan, and I can't see that changing here.

Bet 2: Lanus (HOME) @ 1.65
