Boxing betting at Pinnacle Sports sees Mikkel Kessler as the odds-on 1.118* favourite to beat Brian Magee 6.510* on December 8th. Can Kessler win the vacant WBA super middleweight championship, or will Magee upset the odds?

Kessler The Big Favourite

Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler will enter the ring as the odds-on 1.118* favourite to win the vacant WBA super middleweight championship on December 8th.

The 33-year-old boasts a formidable career record of 45-2 (34KOs) and hasn’t tasted defeat since a technical decision against Andre Ward in 2009. The Dane is attempting to win his fourth world championship and set up a rematch with Ward.

In his most recent outing against Allan Green, Kessler stepped up in weight for a light heavyweight bout. Despite being knocked down in the first round, Kessler recovered to brutally knockout Green in round four.

Magee in Good Form

Northern Irishman Brian Magee will enter the Danish ring with a respectable record of 36-4-1 (25KOs).

At 37, Magee is enjoying the best form of his career and will be aiming for a hat-trick of victories over Danish fighters following wins against Rudy Markussen and Mads Larsen.

Magee has fought a number of top class fighters in the super middleweight division, and previously lost out to Carl Froch, Lucian Bute and Robin Reid. Critics of the southpaw consider him not quite good enough at world level, so the fight with Kessler will be his chance to prove the doubters wrong.

Magee comes into the fight with one defeat in 13 fights and has won two interim title fights since his loss to Lucian Bute in 2011.

Vital Boxing Statistics

Both boxers enter the ring in Denmark, with their vital boxing statistics relatively similar.

Kessler has an orthodox fighting style compared to the southpaw style Magee employs. The favourite is also an inch taller than Magee, although both fighters have the same reach of 74″.

In terms of punching power, Kessler has a 11.36% better knockout percentage at 72.34% compared to Magee’s 60.98%.

Home Bout Should Inspire Kessler

One important factor with regards to Kessler vs. Magee Betting is that the fight is being held in Kessler’s native Denmark.

Magee will receive a hostile reception when he arrives in Denmark, where Kessler is a big celebrity.

Kessler has never lost a fight in Denmark with an impressive record of (42-0 32Kos), while Magee has lost three of his four fights outside of Northern Ireland.

Kessler is deservedly the big favourite, however Magee is in fantastic form, could he upset the odds?
