Ruby Walsh rides both Annie Power and Inish Island at Clonmel.
The weather has continued to play havoc with the fixture list in Ireland but there is quality throughout the card at Clonmel this afternoon and Timeform's Irish team highlight three win selections...
Annie Power created an excellent impression in bumpers earlier this term, leaving Jim Bolger prior to completing the hat-trick at Listowel in September. As a result of her unbeaten run in that sphere, she was sent off a short-priced favourite for a mares hurdle at Thurles last time and duly recorded a bloodless victory, barely having to come off the bridle to beat some fair sorts by 13 lengths. Annie Power faces a stiffer test of her abilities this afternoon, but she looks open to any amount of improvement and she is expected to take this before going onto better things.
Inish Island showed fair form over hurdles for Dessie Hughes last term, but he immediately improved for the switch to Willie Mullins when comfortably landing a maiden at Downpatrick in November by just under four lengths from Torn Asunder. Following that effort, he was then sent for a hot-looking handicap at Cheltenham in December and he duly showed further progress when chasing home the smart At Fishers Cross, pulling eight lengths clear of the remainder on the run-in. The form of that effort has been franked in no uncertain terms since and Inish Island looks worth supporting to get off the mark at graded level.
Wild Salmon has not exactly set the world alight under Rules, failing to better modest form in a handful of events over both hurdles and fences. However, he has shaped quite well in a couple of handicap chases on his last two outings, again travelling smoothly when third to Reality Dose over this trip at Naas last time. That effort in particular suggested he has the ability to win a small race under Rules and the handicapper looks to have given him a chance back over hurdles this afternoon.
