Stephen provides you with his best bets
Timeform's Dubai expert, Stephen Molyneux, has looked at Thursday's Meydan card and found a few bets for you, including one that he thinks may have slipped under the radar...
Royal Empire and Kassiano are winners already at the Carnival this year and are sure to be popular again in the 14:45, but it could be worth taking them on with Jamr who has been bubbling under nicely and finally has his ideal conditions in place here. He progressed really well last season, winning four times in total, three of which came over this C&D. He's largely been asked to punch above his weight this campaign, unsuited by the way things have panned out when not disgraced in the first two legs of the Maktoum Challenge, and he managed to finish second in a handicap in between, caught too far back in a steadily-run affair. There is a strong chance there won't be much pace on again here but he has raced prominently in the past and his guaranteed stamina gives him the edge over the Godolphin pair, both of whom are trying this trip for the first time.
It hasn't always paid to look beyond the obvious at the Carnival but that is what I will be doing in selecting Final Button in the 15:20. Rerouted and Masteroftherolls are both looking to follow up recent wins and, in truth, this race is no stronger than the ones they have won, but Final Button looks to be gradually coming to the boil and can hopefully step up again now trying this trip. He started favourite for his first run but showed nothing behind Lily's Angel, and it was a similar story next time when down the field behind Tamaathul. The blinkers were applied last time and they sparked a recovery of sorts, travelling a lot better and not having much room to open up fully, staying on into sixth behind Time Prisoner. Most of Mike de Kock's runners having been getting fitter the more they run and he seems sure to be a reasonable price with some more exalted rivals in opposition.
The concluding handicap at 17:40 hasn't attracted the strongest of fields and Anatolian should make a bold bid to supplement recent gains. That success came over this C&D when beating several who ran again last week, and they did more than boost the form with Star Empire and Ahzeemah finishing first and second. Anatolian isn't a particularly flashy sort, grinding his success out last time, but I rather suspect he had more in hand than a mere 3 lb rise has bargained for and he should go close again.
