Matt Gardner is in action at Lingfield today.
Timeform's Matt Gardner heads to Lingfield for Sunday's crack at the Placepot...
11:50 - At this early stage and with just two places to aim at it is probably wise to include both the likely principals, namely Freddy With A Y and Little Choosey. We could take a chance on just one but there is plenty of opportunity later on for a spot of risk so let's play this one safe and move swiftly on.
12:20 - As things stand there are three places on offer, which offers us a little bet of extra comfort as we stick in our first banker of the afternoon. Pharoh Jake is a long-standing maiden, and he may remain so after today, but a win is not a necessity for us and he seems the most likely to give his running following a career-best effort when second at Kempton last week.
12:50 - Again with three places on offer we can afford to include a banker, with the James Unett-trained Monumental Man being the one to tickle me fancy. The three-year-old got back on the up in re-fitted cheekpieces last time and, with that aid in place once more, he seems likely to go very close.
13:20 - The fourth leg is a trappy claimer and we will most certainly not be banking on anything as, in truth, very few make any sort of appeal. If pushed I'd suggest that Hurricane Spirit may go well now returned to this sort of grade, having won a similar event at this venue earlier in the year, and that if Sir George returned to the sort of form he was showing in the summer he would be of interest of a light weight, but it is difficult to be confident.
13:50 - Realistically we could bank on Dewala here, as she is pretty consistent and ran her best race yet when finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton last week, but with the Lingfield track apparently lending itself to bunched finishes it is best to also include Neil's Pride, who is fairly closely matched with Dewala on their Southwell clash last month and looks to hold solid each-way claims.
14:20 - The pair to concentrated on in the concluding event are Harry Buckle and Santadelcruze but, with three places on offer and it seeming likely that the race will be fought out between that duo, we need only take one. Harry Buckle has had plenty of chances to break his duck but he has taken his form to another level on his last two starts, both at this track, and he is the one we will side with.
