Against All Odds: Bubbles and goals at the Boleyn Ground

Jonjo Shelvey is expected to play as a striker today

Liverpool travel to West Ham this afternoon without their chief goal threat, Luis Suarez, but the in-form Paul Robinson still thinks that there could be goals on the menu.

Zwolle held Den Haag last night to give us our seventh successful odds-on lay from eight selections. If we have another winner today then we have completed the perfect week with no losers.

West Ham have made a magnificent start to life back in the top flight and they find themselves up in 10th place with a game in hand over most of their rivals. Sam Allardycye's side come into this match on a high after a scintillating second half performance against Chelsea last week, which saw them run out 3-1 winners. The Hammers had gone three without a victory before that so it was a timely boost.

Andy Carroll may be missing today but in Kevin Nolan they have a player who has netted four times at home this season and he already has a relationship with stand in striker, Carlton Cole. Three of their last five at Upton Park have gone over 3.5 goals, with the win over Southampton actually going over 4.5.

Liverpool are 12th in the league and while the jury is still out on Brendan Rodgers, it was always going to take time to get the Reds back challenging for Europe. They have actually lost just one of their last 10 in the league, although they have drawn far too many, despite bossing most of the matches.

Luis Suarez serves a one match suspension which is clearly a huge blow as he's scored 10 of their 19 league goals this term, however they do have Lucas Leiva back who will just sit in front of the back four and allow others to push on ahead of him. Steven Gerrard and Joe Allen should be the main beneficiaries of this and it was noticeable in the game against Southampton that both of them were a bigger attacking threat than they'd been all year.

It would be easy to suggest that this will be a low scoring affair, however there are signs that the goals could flow. So with under 2.5 so short at 1.738/11 I feel it would be decent value to take it on, and that's why I'm making it my lay of the day.
