Timeform Irish SmartPlays: No Knocking Geraghtys chances

Barry Geraghty rides Knockfierna for Charles Byrnes.
Sunday's Irish SmartPlays action comes from Limerick...
Mulleady can get backers off to a good start in the opening 14:10 Adare Hurdle. Tony Martin's filly opened her account over timber at Ballinrobe in July, and showed further improvement following a decent effort on the Flat at Wexford when making her handicap debut last time at Listowel, dropped out early before stayed on to finish second. She should give another good account today over this longer trip, and with Ruby Walsh again booked she is worth supporting to go one better.
Next up is Busty Brown in the 15:15 Grade 3 Novice Hurdle. A runner-up in points, the Mr Combustible gelding made the frame all three starts in bumpers before showing improved form over hurdles on his first start for Noel Meade when off the mark over two-and-a-half miles at Roscommon earlier this month, travelling well and jumped better as the race wore on before eventually being eased down after the last. This represents a step up in class, but the extra furlong will be no problem and he remains open to further progress.
Finally, Knockfierna merits plenty of respect for Charles Byrnes and Barry Geraghty in the 17:00 Grade 3 Chase. A three-time winner of Grade 3 mares novice races last season, she looks capable of taking another step up the chasing ranks on her return to action today. The daughter of Flemensfirth has won fresh in the past, and despite favouritism looks slightly overpriced at morning prices given her graded achievements over both hurdles and fences in relation to her rivals.
